About Us

Mamatoto is dedicated to improving maternal and new born wellbeing through evidence-based care. Our charity works alongside healthcare professionals and communities to promote informed choice and supportive approaches to pregnancy, birth and early motherhood.  

Mamatoto provides education for Maasai Midwives in enhancing their practice to improve health outcomes in maternal and neonatal care.

Leah Johnson

Chair
The founder of Mamatoto felt inspired following a visit to Tanzania in 2016.  Returning many times since, Leah has developed knowledge in her UK midwifery practice to support healthcare workers in Tanzania.

Vice Chair
Our vice chair Kim is a practicing NHS midwife in the UK, with a background in social care.  Kim is an advocate for equalising access to healthcare and improving outcomes for all.

Sally Haymes 

Trustee
A registered midwife within the NHS, Sally has been an advocate for women's health for over 20 years.  Sally uses her extensive experience to specialise in supporting marginalised families.

Treasurer
Treasurer and Trustee Sam uses his wealth of experience working with vulnerable people to ensure Mamatoto grows with compassion and efficiency.
